I’m 27 And I’m Dying. I Think Euthanasia Should Be Legalized

by I'm Struggling
My partner and I have been documenting daily life with a disability through Instagram without the filters and mushy inspo-porn. I’m brutally honest and open with my photos, revealing aspects of disabled life that you don’t often hear about. I’m Holly Warland, a 27-year-old woman from Australia and I have a rare condition called Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. My LGMD involves the gradual deterioration of all my muscles from the chin down leaving me predominantly bed bound and reliant on care. I was diagnosed at 11 but led a mostly typical life with great support from family and friends. I […]

I Illustrated Mental Illness And Disorders To Fight The Stigma Associated With Them (New Pics)

by I'm Struggling
Back in 2016 I created 31 different dark art interpretations of mental illness disorders for Inktober (that were featured on Bored Panda), in order to start an unconventional conversation. In the past 2 years, mental health has become more openly talked about, but many people suffering from mental illnesses are still considered “crazy” or “mental”. And as long as the stigma remains, I’ll keep creating artwork to continue that conversation. Here’s why you should make your bed every morning

by I'm Struggling
This is You Won’t Regret It, a new weekly column featuring recommendations, tips, and unsolicited advice from the Mashable culture team. Making my bed was the one chore I hated the most, but I’ve learned that it’s one of the best tools to tackle my depression.  Growing up, I wasn’t allowed to leave the house until I made my bed. My mother would inevitably catch me at the front door, one shoe on, and ask whether or not my bed was made. When I mumbled out a reluctant “no,” she would march me back to my unkempt bedroom and wait […]

by I'm Struggling
in News
“Climate change is here; it’s happening,” seems to be the overwhelming sentiment after a summer of heatwaves and historic wildfires that now has, with barely a breath in between, slipped into an early fall marked by severe storms and deadly floods. Hurricane Florence continues to devastate mid-Atlantic states while Typhoon Mangkhut takes a severe toll on China and the Philippines and has, for now, been named the world’s strongest storm this year. But before the wind and water there was the heat and fire. Severe wildfires broke out around the world this summer, from the U.S. and Canada to Sweden […]
