CNBC reporter criticizes Vanessa Trump for seeking ‘publicity’ over white-powder letter she received

in News

With the arrest of bomb suspect Cesar Sayoc, Vanessa Trump detailed for the first time what she and her family went through when she opened an envelope filled with white powder that was sent to her husband Donald Trump Jr.:

As someone who was recently a victim of one of these cowardly mail attacks, please read my statement on the recent series of attempted mail bombings. https://t.co/oNuYOrvNN4

In the statement, she called the devices sent to prominent Democrats and liberal “the acts of a coward” and “nothing more than terrorism, pure and simple.” She added, “No one, regardless of political party or ideology, should ever have to go through what I went through.”

So, overall a pretty powerful statement from someone in the Trump family, right?

But to CNBC reporter, Vanessa Trump calling Sayoc a terrorist was just her seeking “publicity”:

The letter Vanessa Trump opened contained cornstarch. Terrifying, yes, but perhaps today is not the right day to seek publicity for it.

Yes, she put out the statement “this afternoon” because THE ARREST WAS MADE TODAY:

Vanessa Trump decided this afternoon to put out a statement detailing the letter with white powder in it that she received in February. https://t.co/KY1tKkwmaH
